Last Day in Montpellier
I can't believe today was my last day in Montpellier. Tomorrow we have class, lunch, and leave for Paris at 1:18.
Today after class we went go-carting and bowling one last time. My go-cart was way too slow, but at least I won at bowling. We walked around town a little bit and then went to dinner at Madame Barrau's house, their host mom. She invited me for a farewell dinner of fresh fish and potatoes, fish soup, and ice cream. The fish was so good. And typical French, there was a stick of butter in every serving. Interesting fact: Mme Barrau told us that the song "La Mer" was in point of fact written while the French singer was on a train from Montpellier to Sete watching the sea. We went the same route, so we too, could've written that song.
Lastly we went to a concert-or what we thought was going to be a concert that Jeremie (the tour guide) invited us to. He told us to come hear him play the accordion. Only what we got ourselves into was learning traditional dances from the Languedoc region. It was an aerobic workout. We all joined in dances in circles, lines, with partners, etc. It was so much fun for our last night, a little strange at times depending on what partner you got, but mostly fun. I died laughing when Karoline was paired up in line with that same crazy German French teacher from yesterday's bus ride! On our way back we passed by the aquaducts that were all lit up in blue. So cool. I have had a great time, but am ready for Paris!!!!

I was in Montpelier yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI can go there any time I want. (snow-permitting)
Plus, there are go-carts there. I know this because of a lawsuit involving the unsuccessful foreclosure of the track.
Holla!
