Girls Night Out
I walked the kids to their first day of school today and then went grocery shopping. Suddenly I have become an Old Metairie mom. Alas. I am so happy to report that I now have toilet paper, a humongous bottle of Evian, and wonderful smelling shampoo. It was a lengthy decision there in Monoprix, but I finally chose Cotton and Fig and another bottle of Shea Butter and Honey. I may not resist the urge to buy the almond, rose, and lavendar scented ones. I can easily imagine now my suitcase being too heavy on the flight back.
I picked the kids up at 1:00. Max went off with some new friends from class, so the rest of the afternoon and evening was spent with Kaitlynn and Karoline. They told me all about their hysterical morning. It started when their host mother was ironing in the hallway wearing only her underwear. Naturally when the girls came out of their room the mother casually greeted them with, "bonjour" as if she weren't standing there almost naked. Karoline said, "I'm sure she thinks I'm weird because I stared at her for like five seconds." Kaitlynn added, pointing to her waist, "Her underwear came up to here!" They also told me about Yvonne, the swiss girl, who had lectured them on the dangers of wind at the beach. "Sand will go everywhere." Once again Karoline said to me, "Does she think we don't know this?" Karoline also told me about the young German boy in her class who asked her during the break to go outside to have a cigarette with him. She was horrified, mostly because she thought he was a weirdo and promptly said, "ummm, no."
We spent the day shopping but not buying anything because the huge sales start on Wednesday. I will be devoting a whole other blog entry to fashion. More on that later. After dinner we went out to the main square, and I took some pictures while the girls played on their heeley shoes. I really need some of those. I don't think they exist in France however. Tant pis. (too bad)

Smoking is fine if you drink enough red wine. That's why France has such a cheap health care system. Duh
ReplyDeleteSidebar; stop buying things with Shea butter in them just because you like the name. It's fattening.
